Thank you for writing this Joe I’m going to send this link to a sicepal somebody I know.  An observation from a non-writer:  When I read HSB and 20thCG, I was so blown away by them.  The writing seemed so effortless fluid and graceful.  I’d forget I was even reading a book.  I never realized that really good writers go through what you have described here the block, the unsatisfactory pages, the thousands of pages that never get published.  I realize it was silly of me to think that for great writers the process is easy.  I can’t tell you how much I appreciate the fact that you are honest and humble enough to tell us this.  When would be writers get discouraged it’s this kind of honesty that can help them get out of their own way as you put it.  It isn’t just talent as I suspected it’s also dogged determination and a never give up attitude.  It’s falling down and getting up again and again and again.  Thank you so much for sharing this.  You really do continue to amaze me.
